his is Elesiah, my witch for the Outcast Odissey Contest.

"I must protect my island against the ones who want to invade it"

Elesiah was the enchantress of her tribe, a small village who used to live inside the deep forest. They were in peace: they lived happy, enjoying the forest and what it gave to them. Nobody knew the village: it was in a forest located inside one of the several islands of the mainland.

But one day, a little boy came to the village suddenly. He was really young and different: his clothes were strange for the villagers; they had never seen that kind of attire. But despite of it, everyone seemed to like him, they didn’t want to leave him alone in the dangerous forest, everyone except: Elesiah. She thought that the boy was going to be like a curse for her village; he tried to expel the young boy but everyone didn’t allow her.

She resigned finally, but never rely on him; she saw how the boy grown up with her family and friend, he didn’t seem dangerous but her feelings didn’t think so. But she tried to leave that matter; she concentrated on her magic and the knowledge of the forest. Everything happened quiet, till one day.

Although everything seemed peaceful, one day the boy was strange. He had got an amulet, nobody paid attention to it, but at the early morning the amulet started to shine. Eleisah saw that really worried and she tried to leave the boy again in the forest, she said to the villagers that it was really dangerous; but they didn’t trust her.

A few hours after that, the villagers listened to some noises. Eleisah knew what was happening: an invasion. She grab the child’s neck to try to kill him, but she couldn’t: Suddenly a lot of armed people appeared in his village who were wearing the same kind of clothes that the boy the first time he appeared in the village. All the villagers were screaming, trying to take some weapons to defend themselves, but the warriors engaged against them. Eleisah tried to attack them with some forest’ spells but they didn’t work, she felt defenceless. But, a huge silence took the village, with a lot of people death: a man was talking:

“Good boy, Robert, you did it perfect” Said the man stroking child’ hair; “the amulet worked” he concluded taking the boy’s amulet.

Eleisah walked to that man, screaming, asking him what he was meaning.

“This amulet helped us to find this village, it worked, we put it to this boy when he was younger, and he found this village; we use this for each island to find… treasures” The man answered, “Now… kill them”

Eleisah couldn’t do anything, she ran away to save herself: those men killed her village. He walked alone for days, till something happened: a huge tree turned on a woman; she had got wood skin but the shape of a woman.

“Protect my island against them”

Eleisah wasn’t able to say nothing because suddenly she lost her awareness. When she wake up she felt everything different, she were able to listen to a lot of sounds around her. She discovered that she was able to control plants of island… But the most important thing: the years happened and she didn’t get old, she couldn’t die: She had to protect the island.

She has been in the island for a lot of years, protecting it against the invaders, killing them with her plants: cutting down trees, drowning them with lianas, poisoning them with plants… Nobody has been able to return to the island.

Eleisah lost her village once, but she won’t make the same mistake again.

This was made by me, with Photoshop Cs5 and Wacom Bamboo; I made it in 9 hours.
